Why is Abstinence for Me?
If you choose to practice abstinence, it allows you to be free from many things that teens really should not have to deal with. There are many consequences to being sexually active beyond pregnancy and STD's. Here are some of those consequences for you to think about.
Worry - Sometimes a teen who has been sexually active worries for various reasons. For example, a teen may worry that the person that they have been sexually active with will tell his/her friends. Also, a teen may worry that he/she has been used by the other person.
Guilt - Guilt can happen when a teen engages in sexual activity and later feels bad about their decision for different reasons. Some may feel guilty that their parents will find out, or that they wish they would have waited.
Depression - Statistics show that teens who engage in sexual activity are more likely to suffer from depression. Why is this true? It's true because teens often experience intense feelings after they have been sexually active that can cause their schoolwork, family life, and social life to be affected.
