Profile of an American Teen

It all starts out so innocently, at age 13 the interest in the opposite sex begins to peak. Most kids in this age range primarily engage in kissing. Less than 10% of teens have engaged in any type of sexual activity at this age. By the time they reach the 9th grade it jumps to 34% and by the time they reach graduation over 60% of teens have become sexually active. For more information check out www.teenpregnancy.org. Of those teens that have chosen to become sexually active 25% will contract an STD and 20% of those young ladies will become pregnant. The lesson to be learned here, talk to your kids about sex and talk to them early! Don't wait for your innocent preteen to become an overly experienced teenager before you start talking to them about sex.
